As I have spent the last few months interviewing people for an SEO position and trying to find out if they were a right fit for our company I have decided to put together a list of questions that I believe will give anyone a fair understanding of an SEOs qualifications.

     1. Please explain PageRank?

     2. What do you think of PageRank?

     3. Can you write HTML code without the use of a code tool like Dreamweaver?

     4. What are some of the key components of on-site code that determine success?

     5. What are some of the secondary components of on-site code that determine success?

     6. What SEO tools do you use?

     7. How have you used Social Media to drive SEO results?

     8. What thought leaders do you follow?

     9. What campaigns have you done that have driven the best results and why do you think they were successful?

    10. How do you determine which keywords to target?

    11.  What reports do you look at on an ongoing basis and describe what they look like?

    12.  What is your stance on buying links? Have you had positive or negative results doing this?

    13.  How have you used rel=”canonical” and rel=”nofollow”?

    14.  How have you leveraged SEM to drive results for your SEO?

    15.  What tactics have you used that has best generated long-term back links?

    16.  What have you done to tap into local search?

    17.  On a scale of 1 – 10, how would you rate yourself as an SEO?

a. What does a 10 look like?

b.  What does a 5 look like?

    18.  What have you done to build strong internal linking?

    19.  What is next in SEO?

    20.  Why do you want to work here?

     21.  What parts of SEO are you best at?

     22.  What parts of SEO are you worst at?

     23.  What about SEO are you most passionate about?

     24.  What do you do differently to optimize for Yahoo and/or Bing?

     25.  How do you measure success for SEO?

    Thank you for the SEO insight! I am having a problem, hoping someone here could help me. You see, I tried ‘on page seo’ on my site, as well as getting backlinks. But I am still not getting any visible results! Do you have any other advice for backlinking? I tried what I could understand already. Thanks again!!
