Acquisio.com

Friday, October 30, 2009
By James Green

Back in 2003, Canadian based analytics and search agency firm Canalytics saw a hole in the online landscape and made a bold move away from being a boutique agency. In this bold move into new horizons Canalytics formed Acquisio.com. Canalytics was a leader in SEM, SEO, and Google Analytics with an emphasis on the Canadian market (thus the ‘Can’ alytics).

As Canalytics grew and saw the limited toolsets publically available Acquisio was formed. Acquisio serves as a Search Marketing tool which encompasses reporting, optimization, and bid management.

Strengths

  • Strong technology with advanced account management tools
  • Excellent UI
  • Sophisticated, fast-speed reporting
  • Recently acquired landing page maker, Emovendo

Weaknesses

  • Only data available for decision making is what is available to the search engines.
  • Catered to agencies who are more likely to need more data for decision making
    • Limited market size
  • High learning curve to use Acquisio search tool

Opportunities

  • Create similar tools for SEO, Display, and Social
  • Allow for additional data to integrate into decision-making engine

Threats

  • Narrow focus could prove detrimental to overall success

There are some short comings to Acquisio currently but they have a great product and one that we expect to hear more good things about them in the next few years as they create a strong foothold in the search landscape. Look through their system and leave us your feedback in the comments.

Thanks for the review – we agree with you 100% and are addressing all these issues and more, third party data tracking is in fact now available (you do the mapping and upload), but tight pre-built integrations with Web Analytics tools Google Analytics and Omniture Site Catalyst, Ad Serving technology providers DoubleClick DART and Bluestreak, and Call Tracking companies VoiceStar and Mongoose Metrics are all coming this year, perhaps some will be in Q1 2010 if any don’t make the cut – we have a LOT going on!

The tool is a little more complicated than it has to be in some respects, which is a result of trying to please everyone (our loyal clients!) – but in Q1 2010 we are deploying a completely redesigned interface, this time the UI design will result from customer feedback, and usability experts will test UIs with our clients… we want to be MORE efficient than adwords, and we will be.

We’re excited about all this and more. While I can’t tell you everything we’re doing, I did say we’re addressing everything in your review, and we are :-)

    Stay Tuned!
